Job summary

Utopia in the United States is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to own financial controlling across multiple entities and jurisdictions. You will design processes, ensure accurate accounting, and deliver timely reporting and robust controls.

You will oversee monthly reporting, supervise accounting activities, coordinate with external advisors, and mentor junior staff while partnering with the Head of Finance.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in financial control, finance and accounting or treasury.
• Knowledge of IFRS.
• Experience supervising or leading junior finance associates.
• English - advanced or fluent.
• Experience working with external auditors.
• Ability to manage external consultants and legal advisors.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Fast learner in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting operations for multiple entities across different jurisdictions, including monthly financial reporting.
• Supervise day-to-day accounting activities to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timely closing.
• Maintain and strengthen financial controls across all entities.
• Manage cost control and own the budget approval process.
• Design finance control processes, then continuously optimise them for greater efficiency and scalability.
• Prepare consolidated monthly management reports in partnership with the Head of Finance.
• Prepare and review regulatory reports in collaboration with external advisors.
• Train and mentor junior finance specialists, supporting their professional growth and technical development.
• Coordinate external audits and act as the main point of contact for auditors.
• Deliver ad hoc financial analysis to support business decisions.
• Respond promptly to finance-related questions and requests from the CEO and wider team.

About the opportunity

• Work experience in BIG-4 (Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPGM)

• Ability to manage external consultants and legal advisors effectively
