Job summary

First Finish, now part of the Shawmut family, is seeking a Senior Finance Manager in Columbia, MD to lead financial operations for our hospitality construction business. This on-site role (with a potential one remote day per week) reports to the Corporate Controller and oversees month-end close, project accounting, and budgeting.

The ideal candidate has 10–15 years in construction finance, strong GAAP knowledge, and senior leadership experience, with proficiency in Excel and familiarity with

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
  • 10–15 years of relevant experience in the construction industry.
  • Senior Finance Manager or similar leadership role in a small-to-mid sized construction company.
  • Deep knowledge of construction accounting, GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, and WIP reporting.
  • Strong understanding of construction operations, project financials, and cost-to-complete management.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Procore and/or CMiC is preferred.
  • Public accounting experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the division’s finance and accounting operations while managing and developing the construction finance team.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and intercompany accounts.
  • Manage project accounting activities, including payables, receivables, billings, collections, and cash-flow monitoring.
  • Lead the preparation and review of work-in-process reports, project projections, cost-to-complete forecasts, and profitability analyses.
  • Participate in WIP and project-review meetings, providing actionable financial guidance to project and operational leaders.
  • Own the division’s budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and management-reporting processes.
  • Serve as a strategic financial partner to divisional executives by identifying trends, risks, and opportunities and recommending appropriate actions.
  • Prepare financial analyses, business-review materials, and executive-level reporting to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Coordinate financial and compliance information required by the parent company, external auditors, insurance providers, and legal partners.
  • Strengthen financial controls and improve processes related to closing, reporting, project accounting, billing, collections, and forecasting.

This is an office-based position in Columbia, MD, with the potential for one remote workday per week in the future, based on business needs and successful integration into the role.

Responsibilities

First Finish is seeking a Senior Finance Manager to lead the financial operations of our hospitality construction business. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this individual will oversee the month-end close, work-in-process reporting, financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and project-related accounting activities.

This is a highly visible leadership role that will partner closely with divisional executives and operational leaders.   • Previous experience as a Senior Finance Manager or in a comparable financial leadership role within a small to midsized construction company.
  • Deep knowledge of construction accounting, GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, financial-statement preparation, and work-in-process reporting.
  • Strong understanding of construction operations, project financials, and cost-to-complete management.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Procore and/or CMiC is preferred.
  • Public accounting experience is a plus.

Salary Range Information

Maryland Base Salary Range: $140,000 - $180,000. Placement within the listed range depends on many factors including, but not limited to years of experience, project size capability (for Construction & Field roles) and internal company equity.
