Job summary

Directive Consulting is seeking a Controller to shape how our finance function scales. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will oversee accounting operations, drive automation, manage team members, and provide insights into performance for growth.

You will lead AP/AR, revenue recognition, GL integrity, month-end and quarterly close, and external filings while mentoring two interns and collaborating with department heads.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent.
• 5+ years in corporate accounting, ideally in service-based companies.
• Experience with GAAP, monthly close, and financial reporting.
• Ability to implement process improvements and automation.
• Proficiency with NetSuite and Excel; familiarity with Datarails is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee AP/AR processing, client billing, and cash management.
• Own monthly revenue recognition and related reporting.
• Maintain GL integrity with postings, journals, reconciliations.
• Manage month- and quarter-end closes, accruals, prepaids, assets.
• Lead preparation of financial statements and variance analysis.
• Supervise compliance filings (1099s, sales/use tax, registrations).
• Support payroll reviews and vendor payments.
• Collaborate with HR on onboarding and payroll systems.
• Mentor accountants and interns and drive cross-functional insights.
