Job summary

Doeren Mayhew is seeking a Financial Institutions Group - Financial Statement Audit Professional to join our Houston practice. You will plan, execute, review, and manage engagements for financial institution clients, acting as a trusted advisor and ensuring quality and profitability.

Responsibilities include mentoring staff, evaluating controls, and delivering comprehensive audit services while maintaining professional standards and client relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
• Minimum 2+ years of relevant audit experience in public accounting.
• CPA license preferred, CPA-eligible or has a progressive plan toward passing the CPA exam.
• Financial institution audit experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage audit engagements for financial institutions, including credit unions and community banks.
• Evaluate internal controls, audit programs, risk assessments, and engagement documentation.
• Review audit workpapers, analytical procedures, financial statements, and client deliverables.
• Research and resolve accounting, auditing, and assurance matters.
• Maintain proactive client communication and develop strong client relationships.
• Participate in client meetings, presentations, and business development activities.
• Develop technical expertise on accounting and audit standards and regulations.
• Supervise, train and mentor less experienced staff and interns.
