Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a senior Field Welding Lead for the Thacker Pass project in Nevada. You will lead and manage a workforce services team, oversee welding programs, and drive process improvements to ensure quality and safety on site.

Responsibilities include supervising welding operations, coordinating with discipline engineers, validating welder qualifications, and ensuring compliance with ASME, API, AWS codes.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10–13 years of relevant experience or 14–17 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience with FCAW, mechanized FCAW, SAW, SMAW, and GTAW welding processes.
• Knowledge of planning and scheduling development.
• Knowledge of Excel, Word, Smart Plant Review, Document databases.

Responsibilities

• Implements, maintains and manages the Field Welding program.
• Provides oversight & technical direction to subordinates and subcontractors.
• Manages the subcontractor welding program with welding engineering support to ensure code compliance.
• Provides technical expertise for ASME, API, and AWS welding codes.
• Oversees pre- and post-weld heat treatment programs for subcontractors.
• Coordinates with Discipline Superintendents and Lead Field Welding Engineer on manpower and welder qualifications.
• Directs Welding Foremen to ensure first-time quality with minimal rework.
• Reviews weekly work plans to ensure welder resources meet planned scopes.
