Job summary

Sunstate Equipment Co. in Carrollton, TX is seeking an experienced Field Mechanic (Technician III) to diagnose and repair a wide range of construction and rental equipment. Competence in diesel engines, Tier 4 systems, electrical and hydraulic diagnostics is required.

You will perform major and minor repairs, preventive maintenance, and field service tasks while documenting work. The role offers weekly pay, competitive benefits, and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional diesel mechanic experience
• Construction equipment, heavy equipment, or equipment rental experience required
• Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic experience with: diesel engines, Tier 4 and aftertreatment systems, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, drivetrains
• Experience performing both major and minor repairs
• Ability to independently diagnose equipment problems and determine the appropriate repair
• Experience inspecting, servicing, testing, and returning equipment to manufacturer specifications
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance, including fluid changes, lubrication, and inspections
• Experience completing accurate service and warranty documentation
• Basic computer skills for service work orders, parts ordering, and maintenance records
• Ability to perform basic MIG and SMAW welding repairs
• Must have the necessary professional mechanic tools for the position, typically valued at $10,000+

Responsibilities

• Diagnose complex equipment failures
• Perform advanced mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel repairs
• Troubleshoot Tier 4 and aftertreatment systems
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections
• Test equipment after repairs to verify proper operation
• Complete service documentation and warranty records
• Assist with field service and customer equipment needs
• Work independently while supporting the branch team
• Help keep equipment safe, reliable, and ready for our customers
