Job summary

Astreya is seeking a Field Technician III to support data centers and POPs, coordinating with network teams and vendors for installation, repair, and maintenance activities. The role requires deep knowledge of rack and stack configurations and extensive field experience.

Travel is involved, and you will work with DWDMs, IP routers, and fiber/copper distribution. Independent problem solving and meticulous testing are essential for ensuring the highest quality across telecommunication assets.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and 5+ years’ related experience.
• Experience with data center and POP infrastructure including OSP/ISP, interfacility cabling, fiber and copper distribution, AC/DC power systems, environmental controls, and rack construction.
• Experience with installing and maintaining telecom/network equipment including DWDMs, backbone routers, IP switches.
• Understanding of splicing and manhole/vault/handhole environments.
• Experience with telecom testing equipment from OTDRs to power meters across SONET and Ethernet bandwidths.
• Knowledge of testing standards and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to collaborate with LEC technicians, landlords, electricians, and construction operators.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high quality standards in data center locations and POPs.
• Perform physical installation, repair, maintenance, and testing with meticulous attention to quality.
• Perform card adds or replacements, software upgrades, and associated testing.
• Coordinate with network teams and vendors for site surveys and deployments.
• Manage local construction vendors to ensure compliance with MOPs and standards.
• Meet with LEC and other technicians to facilitate installations and maintenance.
• Coordinate site access, equipment staging, and related tasks.
• Mentor less experienced team members where applicable.
