Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Senior Field Technician I to join the Knoxville team. The role involves observing, testing, sampling, and inspecting materials on construction sites under guidance from senior staff.

You will develop skills through onsite and formal training, with opportunities for certification and career growth. As you gain experience, ECS supports ongoing development and encourages participation in industry training programs.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of related experience.
• High School diploma or GED.
• Must have and maintain current basic level certifications and 2 advanced certifications.
• OSHA 10 is a plus.
• Position requires carrying 40-70 lbs multiple times a day or occasionally lifting 85 lbs.
• Must have valid driver's license and insurance.
• Must provide suitable transportation for use on job sites - Mileage will be reimbursed.
• Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing).
• Excellent understanding of heavy construction safety, practices, and procedures.
• Ability to work effectively with clients, peers, and supervisors.
• Proficiency with electronic devices such as phones, tablets, and laptops.
• Strong math skills with the ability to read maps, follow directions, and interpret engineering and construction plans.
• Basic knowledge of MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Field Activities: Observe, test, sample, and inspect materials on construction sites per project requirements.
• Testing Procedures: Perform routine field tests for soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel placement.
• Data Collection: Calculate data, draft field reports documenting site observations.
• Communication: Maintain daily communication with site contractors and project teams; inform of changing site conditions.
• Training and Development: Receive ECS methodology training and document findings precisely.
