Job summary

R&H Construction in Portland, OR is seeking a Superintendent to lead on-site supervision and coordination for commercial projects ranging from $5–$15 million. You will ensure safety, schedule adherence, budget alignment, and contract compliance, acting as the primary field leader with subcontractors and inspections.

The role requires 5–10+ years supervising commercial construction, strong scheduling and leadership skills, and proficiency with MS Project/Primavera.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and sequencing.
• Thorough knowledge of building codes, safety regulations and inspection processes.
• Strong communication skills - written and oral.
• Strong leadership skills – ability to manage multiple subcontractors and schedules simultaneously.
• Able to read and interpret project drawings and specifications.
• Attention to detail, analytical approach to problems.
• Current knowledge of safety regulations and codes.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to use independent judgment and independent action.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
• Ensure pre-task plans, daily inspections, Toolbox Talks, site orientations, etc. are completed.
• Address safety issues immediately and document incidents as required.
• Create and maintain the project’s master schedule using MS Project in coordination with the PM.
• Coordinate construction sequencing and material deliveries.
• Oversee the quality control plan for the project.
• Inspect work in progress to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Arrange all job site inspections, commissioning, etc.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and suppliers.
• Conduct preconstruction and subcontractor coordination meetings.
• Supervise R&H employees, including evaluations, addressing performance issues.
• Manage punch list and ensure timely completion of work.
• Drive to/from jobsite, office, meetings, etc.
