Job summary

McGough Group is seeking a highly experienced Superintendent for our Des Moines projects. The role leads field operations, develops and maintains schedules, oversees subcontractors, and ensures safety and quality across all phases from preconstruction to closeout.

The candidate will manage budgets, coordinate with project teams, and drive continuous improvement through Lean principles, while facilitating procurement and trade reviews on healthcare and complex facilities projects.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience in lieu of degree.
• 5-10 years of construction-related experience.
• Current OSHA 30 certification.
• Two- or four-year degree in construction-related field preferred.
• LEED AP or other green-building certifications and bilingual (Spanish/English) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight of field staff, subcontractors, and suppliers on active projects.
• Supervise Assistant Superintendents; review schedules and logistics.
• Maintain and update project schedules; coordinate with Project Management.
• Manage budgets and forecasted costs for labor, materials, and equipment; address deviations.
• Lead Lean construction initiatives, Pull-Planning, standard work, and continuous improvement.
• Organize Superintendent and coordination meetings; ensure cross-functional alignment.
• Support procurement, subcontractor selection, RFI development, and trade scope reviews.
• Assist with project closeout, punch lists, commissioning, and owner training.
