Job summary

Onterris seeks a Senior Field Service Technician to drive field implementation of water and vapor treatment technologies and support pilot units. You will partner with Project Managers to review scope, roles, and safety, applying environmental engineering principles to test and operate equipment.

The role involves field leadership, fabrication support, sampling, data collection, and compliance with safety standards. Portland, ME-based with substantial travel.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of mechanical/electrical troubleshooting, environmental collection, monitoring, sampling, testing and basic evaluation.
• Must possess a valid Class C driver’s license with a clean driving record and have reliable transportation for travel to project and job sites.
• NFPA70E Training or willing to complete.
• Ability/willingness to travel up to 75%.
• Ability to complete and maintain HAZWOPER certification with the 40 hour class and annual 8-hour refresher.
• Must lift up to 50 pounds.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Be able to deliver and receive electronic documents.
• Interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Solid organization and time/project management skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication; legible handwriting.
• Able to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Leads and independently performs complex field engineering and technical activities, including equipment inspections, startup and commissioning support, fabrication progress evaluations, site audits, and data collection.
• Acts as technical lead in the field coordinating with clients, contractors, vendors, and project teams to ensure safety and compliance.
• Performs O&M of environmental treatment equipment including pumps, filters, tanks, and vessels.
• Understands system hydraulics, mechanical operation, and instrumentation/electrical control schemes.
• Supports fabrication, bench and pilot testing equipment setup.
• Executes piping/skid fabrication in shop and field; troubleshoots mechanical and electrical issues.
• Collects samples using various methods and operates field monitoring equipment (PID/FID, pH, EC, DO, etc.).
• Records treatment operational data and prepares field daily reports and data sheets.
• Maintains chain-of-custody and regulatory sample handling, documents in electronic spreadsheets and reports.
• Ensures proper labeling and handling of hazardous material and waste.
• Adheres to company safety rules and OSHA regulations; participates in safety training.
• Interacts with clients as a front-line company representative; presents professionally and wears PPE on sites.
• Contributes to continuous improvement programs and team efforts; keeps up-to-date with industry trends through training.
