Job description

Field Service Technician

We are seeking a knowledgeable and hands‑on Field Service Technician to implement and support our water and vapor treatment technologies in the field. You will work closely with Project Managers to review project scopes, apply environmental engineering principles, test and operate equipment, and contribute to the development of remediation devices.

Annual Compensation: $60,000 – $80,000 (based on experience, skills, and geographic location).

Responsibilities
  • Perform operations and maintenance of environmental treatment equipment, including pumps, filters, tanks, and pressure vessels.
  • Apply a general understanding of system hydraulics, mechanical operations, instrumentation, and electrical control schemes.
  • Support fabrication activities and hands‑on set‑up of bench and pilot testing equipment.
  • Execute piping/skid fabrication in the shop or on site, troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical system issues or failures.
  • Collect samples using various methods and operate field monitoring equipment (PID/FID, pH, EC, DO, GEM, turbidity, water level, and LEL meters).
  • Record treatment operational data by documenting monitoring and testing results on field forms; prepare daily field reports and data sheets.
  • Conduct monitoring, sampling, testing, and basic evaluation at multiple locations; complete chain‑of‑custody forms, label samples, and deliver them to an environmental laboratory following regulatory protocols.
  • Enter monitoring data from inspection forms into electronic spreadsheets, Word, or Excel.
  • Ensure proper labeling and handling of hazardous materials and waste.
  • Follow all company safety rules and OSHA regulations; attend all required safety training programs.
  • Communicate promptly with Project Managers regarding site conditions and activities.
  • Serve as front‑line company representative; present a professional appearance and wear appropriate PPE on job sites.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs and support team efforts.
  • Keep up‑to‑date with industry trends through formal training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical/electrical troubleshooting, environmental monitoring, sampling, testing, and basic evaluation.
  • Valid Class C driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • NFPA70E Training or willingness to complete.
  • HAZWOPER certification with 40‑hour environmental health and safety class; annual 8‑hour refresher required.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds with or without assistance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to deliver and receive electronic documents.
  • Effective interface with cross‑functional teams and all levels of personnel/management.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Solid organization and time/project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; legible handwriting.
  • Self‑starter and able to manage multiple responsibilities independently.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with supervising construction projects.
  • Background in electrical, plumbing, or other mechanical trades (Electrical preferred).
  • Competence in HVAC, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
  • Experience operating systems via PLC/SCADA.
  • Associate’s Degree in Environmental Studies or a technical certification from an accredited university.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands

Field duties require up to 75% travel, typically out of state Monday to Friday. Lifting up to 50 pounds and occasional overhead or waist‑level lifting is common. Work may involve bending, standing, or walking. Experience in moderate environmental exposure is beneficial. In‑office tasks involve long hours sitting at a computer and using office equipment.

Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel items. Physical demands include movements such as reaching, bending, pushing, and pulling.

Work environment may include temperature extremes during field work.
