Job summary

RMS Energy in Houston, TX, is seeking a Field Service Technician III to test, maintain, and commission power systems at industrial sites. You will work with relays, transformers, breakers, and SCADA, performing data collection and troubleshooting under minimal supervision.

The role requires 3–5 years of field experience up to 500 kV, NFPA 70E familiarity, travel up to 75%, and a high school diploma or GED. Background checks, drug tests, and demanding environments are part of the job.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of field experience testing, maintaining, and commissioning power systems up to 500kV.
• Experience with megohmmeters, TTRs, and insulation testers.
• Familiarity with PowerDB or similar test documentation software.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70E, OSHA 1910.269, and field safety standards.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and one-line diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Test, maintain, and collect data on HV/LV systems and equipment.
• Run standard field tests including Power Factor and VLF.
• Troubleshoot control circuits and protection schemes.
• Read schematics and support commissioning activities.
• Communicate with customers on-site and keep reports up to date.
