Job summary

Joby Aviation seeks a Senior Field Service Engineer to provide advanced engineering support for J208 aircraft deployed on Operational Evaluations. You will be the on-site SME for mechanical, electrical, avionics interactions with flight control and GCS software, working with development teams to feed lessons learned into product iterations.

You will help develop manuals, represent the product to customers and warfighters, and travel roughly 50% domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Electrical/Mechanical/Aerospace or related field with 8+ years of experience; or Master’s with 6+ years.
• Experience in field service engineering, flight test support, or complex systems integration in deployed environments.
• Proven capability as a super-user troubleshooting hardware-to-software interactions and avionics systems.
• Active US Security Clearance or ability to obtain one; travel ~50% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering support workstreams for deployed J208 aircraft and GCS on-site.
• Diagnose and resolve complex multidisciplinary issues across mechanical, electrical, avionics and flight software.
• Brief stakeholders on system health, readiness, and analytical results.
• Represent the product during field operations with customers and military/civil authorities.
• Capture field anomalies and feed improvements back to development teams.
• Develop procedures and guidelines for field test and maintenance personnel.
• Advise cross-functional teams on maintenance matters with flight-safety implications.
• Manage on-site diagnostics and tooling during evaluations; travel about 50%.
