Job summary

Gregory Electric Company, Inc. seeks a Utility Safety Superintendent to lead field safety on electrical utility construction projects in Columbia, SC. You will work with project teams to identify hazards, coach crews, and ensure compliance with OSHA and client safety requirements on active jobsites.

The role emphasizes hands-on field work, training delivery, and documenting investigations, with strong focus on timely corrective actions and safety performance improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in electrical utility construction, safety, or field supervision.
• Ability to recognize electrical, excavation, work-zone, fall, rigging, lifting hazards.
• OSHA 30-hour Construction training completed or within 90 days of employment.
• Strong communication, documentation, organization, and time-management skills; proficient with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Provide field safety oversight and conduct inspections, audits, and hazard assessments on overhead and underground utility projects.
• Coach employees, supervisors, and subcontractors; correct unsafe conditions and behavior with field leadership.
• Exercise stop-work authority when an imminent-danger condition or serious safety violation is identified.
• Deliver classroom and field training on electrical, work-zone, excavation, fall-protection, PPE, and equipment safety.
• Verify compliance with company safety policies, client requirements, OSHA standards, and applicable regulations.
• Maintain accurate safety records and track deficiencies through closure.
