Job summary

CarMax in Richmond, VA is seeking a Senior Recruiter, Talent Acquisition to lead full-cycle recruiting across multiple markets and partners with hiring managers to deliver an exceptional candidate experience.

You’ll drive proactive sourcing, build strong pipelines, and maintain relationships with candidates and leaders, ensuring alignment with CarMax values and growth goals within field teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience in the last 5 years.
• Experience supporting senior leadership hiring partners.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication skills across channels.
• Ability to build relationships with candidates and managers.
• Proficiency with ATS and structured workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement strategic recruiting plans including proactive sourcing methods to reach talent that is not actively job searching, including networking sites, job boards, specialty search software, and direct outreach.
• Independently manage the hiring strategy, application, and hiring process form posting of requisitions, posting strategy, conducting interviews, to delivering offer recommendations
• Serve as the primary point of contact for candidates and hiring managers (from manager to executive level business partners), ensuring clear communication and a positive experience throughout the hiring process.
• Support Manager and Executive level hiring managers in the hiring strategy for their open hiring needs while building a deep functional expertise of the main business areas supported
• Guide hiring managers through structured interview and selection practices to maintain consistency and fairness.
• Build and maintain talent pipelines for current and future hiring needs, engaging passive candidates effectively.
• Participate in recruiting events such as job fairs, college outreach, and community engagement initiatives to strengthen CarMax’s employer brand (as needed)
• Collaborate with leadership to resolve challenges and recommend actionable solutions that improve recruiting efficiency and outcomes.
