Job summary

Fortem Technologies seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own the design, development, and lifecycle management of our field hardware platform, including mounts, ruggedized enclosures, and calibration hardware. You will drive mechanical integration across sensors, cameras, and electronics, from concept through prototyping, testing, production, and field deployment.

You will mentor junior engineers, work with cross‑functional teams, and ensure designs meet reliability, usability, and cost targets

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master's preferred.
• 7+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience in precision systems or field-deployable hardware.
• Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD, SolidWorks preferred, with complex assemblies, sheet-metal design, and GD&T.
• Experience designing ruggedized equipment, field-deployable hardware, and protective cases/foam packaging.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design from concept through production for field hardware.
• Maintain 3D CAD models, drawings, BOMs, GD&T, and documentation.
• Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and structural/FEA analyses.
• Develop environmental and durability testing (shock, vibration, temperature, IP).
• Collaborate with Electrical, Systems, Software, Manufacturing, and Field Operations for system-level integration.
• Drive DFM and DFA throughout product lifecycle.
• Coordinate with external vendors, machine shops, and contract manufacturers to deliver designs.
• Build/test prototypes, iterate designs, and implement field deployments.
