Shift5 is building a data platform for onboard OT, delivering cybersecurity, predictive maintenance, and compliance for defense and commercial fleets. We are seeking a mission-aligned Mechanical Engineer to drive the mechanical design, development, and integration of rugged hardware for data collection and processing on the edge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• Active U.S. Secret security clearance, or ability to obtain one.
• 3+ years in rugged enclosure design or hardware integration.
• Experience with MIL-STD-810, DO-160, GD&T, and 3D CAD.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop ruggedized electronic enclosure assemblies and installation kits to meet military/aerospace standards (DO-160, MIL-STD-810).
• Own CAD modeling and PLM for ruggedized assemblies with production drawings and GD&T.
• Collaborate with vendors for tooling, procurement, BOMs, and revisions for manufacturing and field deployment.
• Travel to customer sites for on-site fit checks, installations, and integration testing.
