Job summary

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company is seeking a Field Claims Specialist to support the Property Claims Team. The role requires handling claims from initial intake through settlement, including complex losses, with emphasis on accurate estimation and customer service.

Occasional travel up to 80% may be required to support field operations. The ideal candidate has 5 years of field/property claims experience, proficiency with Xactimate, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience handling property claims
• Experience with Xactimate and estimating
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to inspect rooftops and travel up to overnight

Responsibilities

• Handle claims promptly with minimal direction; may include complex losses.
• Determine coverage and settlements per policy guidelines.
• Open, close and adjust reserves according to company practices.
• Mentor less experienced claims associates and provide training as assigned.
• Partner with Special Investigation Unit and Subrogation to identify fraud and subrogation opportunities.
• Deliver outstanding customer service to Nationwide customers.
