Senior Field Marketing Manager (Public Sector)

We are seeking a Senior Field Marketing Manager to lead go-to-market efforts and integrated planning for our Public Sector industry. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in marketing within this vertical, with experience in end-to-end field event strategy, sales enablement, and managing partner ecosystems in a dynamic environment. Familiarity with Public Sector marketing, including Defense, Federal Civilian, and/or State and Local Government, and a strong understanding of related technology ecosystems like business process automation, low-code development, and case management are essential.

The role involves managing and executing Field Marketing programs and Public Sector industry events to grow sales pipeline and revenue, including operational, implementation, and post-event activities.

This position is based at our HQ in McLean, VA. We value in-person collaboration to foster our culture and mission. Employees are expected to work in the office five days a week to promote teamwork and shared ideas. We believe this environment enhances our collective success.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Collaborate with Public Sector Sales Leadership and Field Sales to identify and implement lead generation and account expansion activities.
  2. Execute account-based marketing (ABM) strategies aligned with account plans to generate leads.
  3. Manage budgets for Field programs.
  4. Work with Marketing Operations to review campaign performance metrics and develop actionable insights.
  5. Translate data into strategic decisions.
  6. Define goals and implementation plans with stakeholders to promote Appian’s brand.
  7. Execute onsite and field programs.
  8. Communicate marketing strategies and messaging to regional Sales teams for effective sales cycles.
  9. Ensure lead and pipeline outcomes meet targets, maintaining strong engagement with sales and partners.
  10. Source venues, coordinate technology, and develop materials for events and trade shows.
  11. Manage project deliverables on schedule and within budget.
  12. Travel approximately 25-35%.

Qualifications include:

  • 6+ years in B2G Field Marketing in an Enterprise Software environment, with Public Sector experience (DoD, FedCiv, SLG).
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Proven success in Public Sector marketing programs that drive pipeline growth.
  • Experience working with fast-paced sales teams.
  • Expertise in managing large and regional event logistics and understanding the Public Sector event landscape.
  • Strong presentation, project management, and ROI reporting skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a results-oriented environment.
  • Critical and creative thinking with multitasking skills under deadlines.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, with excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with CRM, Marketing Automation, and ABM tools.
