Job summary

Actalent in Somerville, NJ is seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief/Party Chief for permanent, on-site work. You will lead field teams, perform boundary, topographic, and ALTA surveys, and oversee data collection and quality control on diverse commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects.

This role requires expertise in survey operations, stakeout, and coordination with engineers and clients, with strong knowledge of New Jersey regulations.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in roles such as Survey Crew Chief or Party Chief.
• Strong background in boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction surveys.
• Experience performing construction stakeout and field layout activities.
• Proficiency with LEICA survey equipment.
• Familiarity with land development projects including site plans, subdivisions, grading, drainage, utilities, and roadway design.
• Working knowledge of New Jersey state, county, and local regulations.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage field operations with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform and oversee field survey operations, including boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, title, and as-built surveys.
• Conduct construction stakeout and layout for a variety of land development and infrastructure projects.
• Collect, process, and verify field data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare surface models and support the development of survey deliverables.
• Review survey work for quality, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements.
• Maintain knowledge of current surveying standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure successful project execution.
