Job summary

Minnesota DOT is seeking an Inspector to assist the Chief Inspector on complex projects and to oversee inspection activities on roadway and bridge work. The role includes field testing of materials, verification against MnDOT specifications, and reporting deficiencies to ensure compliance with project documents.

The position requires driving credentials (Class D and CDL with Air Brake Restriction and Tanker Endorsement within 6 months) and experience in contract administration or related areas.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience performing contract administration/roadway and/or bridge construction activities.
• Educational substitution allows a two-year degree to substitute for one year of experience (see job posting).
• Required Certifications include Aggregate Production, Concrete Tester, Grading & Base Tester, Bituminous Street Inspector.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Inspector on complex projects by completing inspection activities.
• Serve as Chief Inspector on less complex construction projects to ensure successful completion.
• Perform field testing of materials (grading/base, bituminous, concrete) and verify material quality against MnDOT specs.
• Inspect roadway features for conformance to plans and specifications.
• Report deficiencies to Chief Inspector and verify corrections to ensure project compliance.
