Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced field Inspector for our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection group. You will inspect and monitor construction activities at project sites across multiple locations, performing complex inspections in roadway, bridges, drainage, erosion and maintenance categories.

Role requires interpreting plans and specifications, communicating results, and potentially leading junior inspectors.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or National Entity such as ACI or NICET in earthwork, asphalt and concrete if required by client/jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections to verify materials and construction conform to plans and provisions.
• Use high-grade equipment and perform complex calculations for inspections.
• Work under supervision appropriate to knowledge demonstrated for assignment.
• Review drawings to prepare for construction inspection.
• Document and communicate inspection results to supervisor.
