Job summary

Harvard University is seeking a Field Event Manager within Education Support Services (ESS) to oversee event staffing, coordination, and resource distribution for a portfolio of Harvard community events, including evenings and weekends.

The role requires leadership of ten positions, hiring input, and active involvement in budget planning to ensure a sustainable financial model. Excellent AV and ITIL/ITSM familiarity will help drive operational excellence on campus.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years’ post-secondary education or relevant work experience.
• Experience with event production, audiovisual systems, and client service.
• Ability to manage complex projects and lead teams in a university setting.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day field event staffing, coordination and scheduling across field teams, including evenings and weekends.
• Oversee onboarding, training, and professional development for the field events team; assign work and plan with ESS leadership.
• Participate in the hiring process, including interviewing candidates and approving time and absences.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to ESS leadership and troubleshoot operational issues on the ground.
• Develop and maintain an operations dashboard to support data-driven decision-making.
• Cultivate new business and supervise invoicing and billing to optimize revenue.
• Participate in budget planning and advise leadership on staffing and operational needs.
• Organize purchase of non-capital equipment to support field events.
