Job summary

TYLin is seeking a licensed Resident Engineer for highway and bridge construction projects. Based in our Falmouth, Maine office, the candidate will oversee daily contractor observation and coordinate with field staff across regions in Maine.

Ideal applicants have a Civil/Construction Management degree and 7+ years of highway/bridge inspection experience, with travel capability and a commitment to ethical, innovative problem solving.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
• 7+ years in construction inspection, including highway/bridge work.
• Familiarity with MaineDOT specs and documentation.
• Ability to travel to remote field locations with reliable transportation.
• Client-focused, innovative, and ethical practice.

Responsibilities

• Conduct construction supervision and field inspection.
• Coordinate between field inspectors and contractor’s rep to supervise work and testing.
• Monitor progress and report major deviations from schedule, price, or quantity.
• Track submittals to ensure reviews and approvals are in place.
• Maintain records relevant to costs incurred during work.
• Perform final inspection, punch list, and closeout.
• Attend progress meetings and prepare correspondence.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.
