Job summary

SJS Executives, LLC (SJS), also doing business as SJS Industrial, seeks an experienced Construction Manager/Field Engineer to support ongoing Navy facility construction in Virginia Beach. The role is full-time with a salary of $55.28–$57.69 per hour, equivalent to about $115,000–$118,000 yearly, plus benefits including 11 federal holidays and PTO.

Responsibilities include navigating NAVFAC requirements with leadership, reviewing drawings, coordinating meetings, and managing contractor

Qualifications

• Valid Real ID is required for this position.
• Engineering degree from ABET-accredited university or architecture degree from NAAB-accredited university, or construction management/engineering technology degree from ABET-accredited university.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) is desirable, but not required.
• Minimum seven (7) years of experience as Construction Manager/Project Manager/Field Engineer/Quality Control Manager on facilities exceeding $5M.
• Must be eligible for CAC access and pass drug test and a thorough background check for military installation access.

Responsibilities

• Communicate NAVFAC requirements across multiple levels to obtain decisive action from stakeholders.
• Review pre-final drawings and specs for constructability and field compatibility.
• Participate in pre-award FACDs and constructability reviews.
• Coordinate post-award meetings, kickoffs, and turnover planning.
• Review contractor submittals and QC/QA plans for approval or rejection.
• Visit sites to monitor progress and ensure contractor quality control per contract.
• Provide technical solutions to unforeseen problems during construction.
• Assist with project modifications and negotiations.
• Support payment determinations and retainage recommendations.
• Document contractor progress and report findings to the Contract Officer.
