Job summary

Lockheed Martin is seeking a Senior Field Engineer (Simulator Technician) to support CRH Training Systems at Moody AFB. You will perform maintenance on OFTs, AVDTTs, LGPTT, and HPTT, lead fault isolation, and implement software/hardware updates to ensure high availability for mission-critical training.

The role requires 5–8 years of experience in simulator maintenance or related fields, strong troubleshooting skills, and familiarity with DoD documentation and basic networking.

Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of experience in simulator maintenance, avionics, IT systems, or related technical field.
  • Active CompTIA Security+ certification required at time of hire.
  • Strong troubleshooting across electrical, electronic, and computer-based systems.
  • Hands-on IT experience with Windows and/or Linux environments and basic networking.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and technical orders.
  • Experience using test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and signal analyzers.
  • Familiarity with maintenance documentation systems and data tracking (e.g., AFTO forms, maintenance logs).

Responsibilities

The Senior Field Engineer (Simulator Technician) will support the Combat Rescue Helicopter (CRH) Training Systems program at Moody Air Force Base, providing advanced-level maintenance, troubleshooting, and sustainment of Operational Flight Trainer (OFT) and Avionics Desktop Trainer (AVDTT), Landing Gear Parts-Task Trainer (LGPTT), and the Hoist Parts-Task Trainer (HPTT) along with associated subsystems.

Standard Job Description

The Senior Field Engineer (Simulator Technician) will support the Combat Rescue Helicopter (CRH) Training Systems program at Moody Air Force Base, providing advanced-level maintenance, troubleshooting, and sustainment of Operational Flight Trainer (OFT) and Avionics Desktop Trainer (AVDTT), Landing Gear Parts-Task Trainer (LGPTT), and the Hoist Parts-Task Trainer (HPTT) along with associated subsystems.

This position serves as a senior technical position within the maintenance team, responsible for ensuring system availability, reliability, and performance in alignment with contractual requirements, including maintaining a minimum 95% availability rate to support mission-critical training operations.

Standard Duties
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on CRH training devices, specifically OFTs, AVDTTs, LGPTT, and HPTT including hardware, software, and networked systems.
  • Lead fault isolation and root cause analysis across simulator subsystems (visuals, avionics, IOS, computing environments, and network infrastructure).
  • Support installation, integration, and verification of software updates (e.g., OFP loads, A.X upgrades) and hardware modifications.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of maintenance actions in accordance with AFTO Form 781 series and program requirements.
  • Analyze system performance data (MTBF, failure trends) and implement corrective actions to improve system reliability and availability.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and on-the-job training to junior field engineers and technicians.
Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in simulator maintenance, avionics, IT systems, or related technical field.
  • Active CompTIA Security+ certification is required and must be held at time of hire.
  • Strong troubleshooting experience across electrical, electronic, and computer-based systems.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with IT/computer systems, including Windows and/or Linux environments, system administration fundamentals, and basic networking.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and technical orders.
  • Experience using test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and signal analyzers.
  • Familiarity with maintenance documentation systems and data tracking (e.g., AFTO forms, maintenance logs).
Desired Skills
  • Experience supporting military flight simulators or training systems (OFT, AVDTT, or similar platforms preferred).
  • Knowledge of Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) environments.
  • Experience with software installation, configuration management, and system baselining.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity practices within DoD environments (STIGs, RMF, etc.).
  • Experience analyzing system logs, databases, and network performance.
  • Strong attention to detail with emphasis on data accuracy (MTBF and maintenance metrics).

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $72500.00 - $134600.00
