Ampirical is seeking a dependable Field Distribution Specialist III in Georgia to join the Cappstone Energy Group. You will design and support electric distribution projects, including single phase, three phase, and double‑circuit work, line extensions or upgrades, re‑insulation and reconductor jobs, and tie‑line projects; most travel is within the state.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, drafting/design, or related field; equivalent field experience accepted.
• 4+ years of experience in electric distribution design or related utility work.
• Working knowledge of electric distribution systems, equipment, and design practices.
• Proficiency in design/drafting software, GIS, or related tools.
• Ability to perform field work in varying conditions.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
• Advanced understanding of electric distribution systems, NESC requirements and RUS design standards.
• Detail‑oriented and thorough in both field data collection and design documentation.
• Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Collaborative mindset with strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Commitment to safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Perform field assessments and data collection for line extensions and upgrades.
• Design and draft distribution layouts; ensure compliance with standards and safety.
• Prepare detailed construction packages including staking sheets and drawings.
• Support senior designers and engineers on complex designs.
• Coordinate with internal teams and field crews to clarify design intent.
• Ensure all work adheres to safety policies and applicable regulations.
• Design and submit permits for DOT, railroad, and road crossings as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and update design systems.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
