Job summary

Ampirical Solutions LLC is seeking a dependable Field Distribution Specialist III in Covington, LA to design and support electric distribution projects. You will perform field assessments, draft layouts, prepare staking sheets, and coordinate with field crews to ensure safety and quality.

With 4+ years in electric distribution design and proficiency in design tools, you will uphold safety standards and drive project efficiency within Cappstone Energy Group.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, drafting/design, or related field preferred; equivalent field experience accepted.
• 4+ years of experience in electric distribution design or related utility work.
• Working knowledge of electric distribution systems, equipment, and design practices.
• Proficiency in design/drafting software, GIS, or related tools.
• Ability to perform field work in varying conditions.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
• Advanced understanding of electric distribution systems, NESC requirements and RUS design standards.
• Detail-oriented and thorough in both field data collection and design documentation.
• Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Collaborative mindset with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Perform field assessments and data collection for line extensions and upgrades.
• Design and draft distribution layouts per standards and specifications.
• Prepare construction packages including staking sheets and drawings.
• Coordinate with teams and field crews to clarify design intent and resolve issues.
• Ensure safety compliance with NESC, RUS where applicable, and regulations.
• Submit permits for DOT, railroads, and roads as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and update design systems with project data.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and team efficiency.
