Job summary

WSP is seeking a motivated Construction Inspector for our Seattle, WA office to join our Construction Management team. You will provide on-site inspection services for transportation, municipal, utility, and infrastructure projects across the Pacific Northwest.

Responsibilities include daily contractor inspections, detailed reports, material verification, traffic safety oversight, and coordination with project stakeholders to ensure quality, safety, and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required for field inspection work.
• Minimum of 9 years of construction inspection experience on public works or heavy civil projects.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for reporting and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspection of contractor operations to verify compliance with plans, specs, permits, and contract requirements.
• Prepare detailed daily inspection reports documenting workforce, equipment, materials, work activities, weather conditions, and events.
• Verify completed quantities and maintain documentation for contractor payments.
• Monitor traffic control, public safety measures, and erosion/sediment control practices.
• Coordinate field testing and material acceptance activities.
• Review material certifications, test results, and quality documentation.
• Maintain project records, photos, field notes, and as-built documentation.
• Identify and communicate construction issues, conflicts, and non-conforming work.
• Attend project meetings and coordinate with contractors, owners, utilities, and team members.
• Support change order documentation and field issue resolution.
• Promote safety and compliance culture on all projects.

This Opportunity

WSP is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Construction Inspector for our Seattle, WA office, to join our growing Construction Management team. Other locations may include Tacoma, WA. In this role, you will provide on-site inspection services for transportation, municipal, utility, and infrastructure projects throughout the Pacific Northwest. You will be responsible for monitoring construction activities, documenting project progress, verifying compliance with plans and specifications, and helping deliver high-quality projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

This position provides opportunities to work on complex public works projects including roadways, bridges, transit facilities, utility improvements, and multimodal transportation infrastructure.

Your Impact

• Perform daily inspection of contractor operations to verify compliance with plans, specifications, permits, and contract requirements.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.




• Minimum of 9 years of construction inspection experience on public works or heavy civil construction projects.




• Working knowledge of roadway, bridge, utility, transit, or municipal infrastructure construction.




• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, shop drawings, and contract documents.




• Strong written communication and documentation skills.




• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.




• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or related field.




• WSDOT Transportation Fundamentals or equivalent training.




• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician certification.




• Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL).




• OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour training.




• Experience with federally funded transportation projects.




• Familiarity with WSDOT Standard Specifications and Construction Manual requirements.

Expected Rate: $49.14- $64 hourly
