Job summary

RPM Industrial Coatings Group is seeking a Sr. Field Technical Service Representative to act as the highest-level field technical resource, partnering with customers, sales teams, manufacturing, and product development to optimize coating performance and deliver exceptional customer support.

This role requires extensive coatings knowledge, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills to help customers maximize the performance of their coating operations, with travel up to 50-70% and a focus

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field (e.g., Chemical Engineering, Materials Science) or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years in industrial coatings with expertise in liquid and powder coating technologies.
• Strong knowledge of pretreatment, application equipment, curing technologies, and process optimization.
• Experience performing technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis in manufacturing environments.
• Experience conducting laboratory/field evaluations using recognized testing standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced technical support to customers, distributors, and internal teams on liquid and powder coating technologies.
• Lead investigations into coating defects and process variability; perform root cause analyses.
• Maintain expert knowledge of coating chemistries including solventborne, waterborne, high-solids, epoxy, polyurethane, alkyd, polyester, and hybrids.
• Perform laboratory and field testing per ASTM, PCI, AAMA, ISO, and customer specs; interpret results.
• Deliver technical training programs for customers, distributors, and manufacturing teams.
• Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, R&D, Manufacturing and Quality to drive continuous improvement.
