Job summary

GFT in Brownsville, TX is seeking Construction Engineering Inspectors (Levels II-IV) to join our Construction Services team. This role focuses on advanced inspection, documentation, and compliance oversight on TxDOT projects.

The Inspector II–IV leads and mentors staff, coordinates meetings, and ensures safety and quality standards are met across complex roadway and bridge projects. A strong TxDOT background is required.

Qualifications

• 4 - 10+ years of TxDOT or TxDOT-equivalent construction inspection experience.
• Extensive experience on TxDOT contracts.
• Proven ability to lead inspection teams and represent the CEI firm in meetings with TxDOT.
• Strong working knowledge of TxDOT specifications, TMUTCD, and documentation standards.
• Proficiency with SiteManager and Microsoft 365 tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection of roadway, bridge, drainage, earthwork, concrete, asphalt, retaining walls, and traffic control operations.
• Ensure all work complies with TxDOT Standard Specifications, contract plans, and special provisions.
• Communicate progress, risks, and decisions with CEI and TxDOT Project Managers.
• If an Inspector IV, lead, direct, and manage Inspector II–III staff, including daily assignments and mentoring.
• Run and facilitate project meetings (pre-activity, coordination, construction).
• Review contractor operations and verify materials placement, testing, and quality control.
• Prepare and audit Daily Work Reports, pay quantities, diaries, and photo documentation using SiteManager.
• Monitor and document work zone traffic control and TMUTCD compliance.
• Support RFI, Submittals reviews, estimates, change orders, audits, and project closeout.
