Job summary

GFT is seeking Construction Engineering Inspectors (II-IV) to join our Construction Services team in Beaumont, TX. The role involves advanced inspection and leadership on TxDOT projects, with responsibilities spanning field oversight, meetings, documentation, and coordination.

The ideal candidate has 4–10+ years of TxDOT-related inspection experience, strong knowledge of TxDOT specs and TMUTCD, and proficiency with SiteManager and Microsoft 365.

Qualifications

• 4 - 10+ years of TxDOT or TxDOT-equivalent construction inspection experience.
• Experience on complex roadway and/or bridge projects.
• Ability to lead inspection teams and represent the CEI firm in meetings with TxDOT.
• Strong knowledge of TxDOT specifications, TMUTCD, and documentation standards.
• Proficiency with SiteManager and Microsoft 365.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection of roadway, bridge, drainage, earthwork, concrete, asphalt, retaining walls, and traffic control operations.
• Ensure all work complies with TxDOT Standard Specifications, contract plans, and special provisions.
• Communicate progress, risks, and required decisions with the CEI Project Manager and TxDOT Project Manager.
• Lead, direct, and manage Inspector II-III staff (Inspector IV level)
• Run and facilitate project meetings, including pre-activity, coordination, and construction meetings as assigned.
• Review contractor operations and verify materials placement, testing, and quality control activities.
• Prepare and audit accurate Daily Work Reports (DWRs), pay quantities, diaries, and photo documentation using SiteManager.
• Monitor and document work zone traffic control and TMUTCD compliance.
• Support with RFI, Submittals reviews, estimates, change orders, audits, and project closeout.
• Other duties as assigned.
