Job summary

MRL Consulting Group is seeking a Senior Field Application Engineer in San Jose, California, to act as the primary technical interface between customers and the business. You will support customers through product selection, design, validation and qualification, while identifying opportunities to drive product adoption.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of analog hardware design experience, strong knowledge of power conversion topologies, and are comfortable traveling to customer and partner

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Specialisation in power electronics is advantageous.
• 3+ years of hands-on analog hardware design experience.
• Strong understanding of power-converter topologies, power switches and passive components.
• Familiarity with high-power multiphase PWM controllers, smart power stages, point-of-load regulators, eFuses and hot-swap controllers.
• Knowledge of power architectures in data centres, HPC or AI infrastructure would be advantageous.
• Commercially minded with an understanding of customer and business requirements.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; Mandarin language capabilities would be advantageous.
• Willingness to travel and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Previous Field Application Engineering experience is desirable but not essential.

Senior Field Application Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Field Application Engineer to act as a key technical interface between customers and the business. The successful candidate will support customers throughout product selection, design, validation and qualification, while helping identify new opportunities and drive product adoption.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary technical point of contact for customers.

• Engage with customers during new project development, recommending suitable products and technical solutions.

• Provide technical support throughout the design, validation and qualification process.

• Conduct regular customer visits for product promotion, solution discussions, technical training, on-site support and troubleshooting.

• Travel to customer and partner locations as required.

• Support design-win activities and contribute to business growth.

• Work proactively with sales and marketing teams on product promotion and customer engagement.

• Collaborate with internal business and engineering teams to identify customer requirements and explore opportunities for new products and solutions.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. A specialisation in power electronics would be advantageous.

• More than 3 years of hands-on analog hardware design experience.

• Strong understanding of power-converter topologies, power switches and passive components.

• Familiarity with technologies such as high-power multiphase PWM controllers, smart power stages, point-of-load regulators, eFuses and hot-swap controllers.

• Knowledge of power architectures used within data centres, high-performance computing or AI infrastructure would be advantageous.

• Commercially minded with an understanding of customer and business requirements.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Additional language capabilities, including Mandarin, would be advantageous.

• Strong relationship-building and professional networking skills.

• Willingness to travel as required.

• Able to work effectively as an independent contributor while collaborating as part of a wider team.

• Previous Field Application Engineering experience is desirable but not essential.
