Okta is seeking a Staff Site Reliability Engineer for the Federal SRE team to design, build, and run highly available cloud services with a compliance-focused mindset. You will partner with software engineers, architects, and product teams to deliver scalable identity services, emphasizing automation and operational excellence.

The role demands deep networking expertise, AWS proficiency, and experience with critical security controls.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Poly.
• Experience navigating Federal and DoD compliance frameworks (FedRAMP IL6).
• 8+ years in a Cloud Network Engineer role or related.
• Deep understanding of TCP/IP networking stack (layer 2-7); design highly available VPC networks and inter-VPC connectivity.
• AWS network concepts (Transit Gateway, Site-to-Site VPN, Direct Connect); load balancing and DNS familiarity.
• Experience with Apache httpd, nginx, Tomcat or similar; troubleshooting with VPC flow logs, CloudWatch, packet captures.
• Terraform experience; Bash/Python/Golang skills a plus; Git proficiency; strong collaboration with stakeholders.
• Extra credit: Palo Alto next‑gen firewalls, debugging tools (gdb/strace/tcpdump/Wireshark), Docker and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, reliable network solutions with various teams.
• Maintain a highly available cloud infrastructure edge for the Okta identity platform.
• Collect and analyze data to identify root causes for network events.
• Automate AWS infrastructure with Terraform.
• Evolve the system by introducing changes to improve efficiency, scalability, and velocity.
