Job summary

Databricks, a leader in data and AI, seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer to own architecture and deliver production-grade data and AI solutions for customers. The role spans data engineering, AI, and application development with strong customer empathy and cross-functional collaboration.

The ideal candidate will lead end-to-end design, build, and deployment of big data and AI applications, with leadership in architectural decisions and secure, scalable solutions. Travel up to 20% is expected.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Proficient in Python, Scala, or JavaScript/TypeScript with modern frameworks.
• Experience with two or more cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) and at least one.
• Deep experience with distributed computing using Apache Spark.
• Knowledge of CI/CD for production deployments.
• Familiarity with MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs.
• End-to-end production data architectures combining pipelines, ML models, and UI.
• Excellent documentation and white-boarding skills.
• Experience with enterprise clients and stakeholder management.
• Willingness to travel ~20%.

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade customer projects and reference architectures.
• Design end-to-end data and AI solutions integrated with client systems.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and customer teams to meet goals.
• Provide feedback to product and support teams for rapid issue resolution.
• Embed with customer teams to understand challenges and deliver impact.
• Create accelerators and best practices to scale across accounts.
