Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Mossville, IL seeks a Senior Test & Validation Engineer focusing on mechanical testing of heavy machinery components and bolted joints.

You will develop tests, analyze data, coordinate external labs, and deliver technical reviews to internal clients. The role requires a BS in Mechanical Eng or related field, 5+ years of relevant experience, hydraulic fatigue testing with MTS/Instron, and Creo CAD proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, or related fields.
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical testing and component validation.
• Experience with hydraulic fatigue testing, especially with MTS or Instron equipment.
• Experience with 3D CAD software, especially Creo.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with design/manufacturing teams to select tests, scope timing/budgets, design fixturing, analyze data, and communicate results.
• Lead projects, set success criteria with clients, manage plans and budgets, communicate with stakeholders.
• Provide engineering support for fatigue testing, bolt joint testing, and production introduction.
• Coordinate with external labs/universities and direct lab activities.
• Contribute to safety and technical excellence within AMT.
