Job summary

DC Department of Human Services seeks a visionary Family Services Administrator to lead a mission-critical operation focused on ending homelessness and transforming lives across the District.

The role oversees nearly 275 staff, a $500M budget, and a network of nonprofit partners, reporting to the DHS Director and guiding five essential service divisions: Community Services; Adult Homeless Services; Family Homeless Services; Youth Services; and Administrative Operations.

Qualifications

• Degree in behavioral or social sciences or related discipline.
• Combination of education and experience providing knowledge of behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major.
• Four years of experience showing knowledge in behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Family Services Administrator role and oversee five service divisions.
• Plan, direct, coordinate, and administer a comprehensive social services program.
• Provide executive leadership and policy direction within DHS.
• Represent DHS on interagency and external committees.
• Oversee state plan and annual reports for the Social Services block Grant.

Education

Degree in behavioral or social science or related disciplines

Combination of education and experience equivalent to a major in the field

Four years of appropriate experience in behavioral or social sciences
