The Embrace Initiative at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) seeks a Senior Family Navigator to coordinate community programs, advocate for families, and connect them with public resources. This grant-funded role requires evening and weekend work and is based in a Cambridge, MD setting.

The mission of The Embrace Initiative is to collaborate with community to create a world that is safe, just, and equitable. We accomplish our mission through partnerships between grassroots, non-profits, city agencies, and institutes of higher education by engaging in accessing resources, removing barriers, making connections, and transforming systems.
The Embrace Initiative is partnering with state government to launch the Safer Stronger Together Initiative (SST). The Safer Stronger Together Initiative was developed by leadership of the MD Department of Human Services (responsible for child welfare, public benefits and child support services), the MD Department of Juvenile Services (the state’s juvenile justice system), and the MD Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (statewide correctional, parole and probation services). The three agencies have identified over 2,000 families across Maryland who touch two or more of their three systems. The Safer Stronger Together Initiative, in close partnership with the Embrace Initiative at UMB, will bring staff at these three agencies together to collaborate and coordinate to serve shared families. The Safer Stronger Together Family Navigator will be assigned to a site within one of the three agencies to act as the liaison with the families and the public agencies, to assist families in advocating for themselves, and taking advantage of available resources.
This grant-funded, contractual position is located in a community-based organization in Cambridge, MD, and requires the ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.

UMB is a public university and constituent institution of the University System of Maryland. All employees are expected to work primarily physically within the State of Maryland.
Bachelor's degree. Degree in social sciences, such as social work or psychology preferred.
Three (3) years of community program coordination, development, oversight, or administration. Prior experience and knowledge of resources within Cambridge, MD is preferred.
Related experience to program may be substituted for education.

$71,000 - $76,000, commensurate with education and experience.
