Job description

The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), School of Nursing(UMSON) program at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) inRockville, Maryland is currently recruiting a part-timecontractual (C1) Project Coordinator for the MarylandNursing Workforce Center.

The Program Coordinator accomplishes responsibilities by applyingspecialized and theoretical knowledge, principles, and concepts ofa professional discipline normally acquired through advancededucation or specialized training. Resolve issues and significantmatters on behalf of management by utilizing independent judgment,discretion, creativity, and analytical thinking. Contributes todevelopment and evaluation of goals and objectives. Createssolutions to ensure legal and policy compliance. May independentlymanage or administer programs, processes, projects, or resources.Applies entry level knowledge, concepts, principles, and skills.Decision making occurs within defined parameters. Supervisordefines assignments, expectations, and deadlines. Supervisors mayreview work for quality. Demonstrates initiative and discretion toresolve routine and non-routine matters.

Primary Duties:
  • Coordinate activities and functions of a designated program toensure goals and objectives for specified program are accomplishedin accordance with established priorities, time limitations,funding limitations or other specifications.
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities of the program with interrelatedactivities of other programs, departments, or staff to ensureoptimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies,procedures and specifications.
  • Manage data collection, keep records of program activities:progress, status, and outcomes, and prepare reports formanagement.
  • Recruit program participants, members and volunteers utilizingthe most appropriate promotional or marketing methods, such asindividual letters, brochures, or presentations.
  • Assists in the preparation of proposals for funding and/orfunding continuation from outside sponsors.
  • Interact and maintain liaison with students, faculty, staff andoutside/community agencies in facilitating program objectives.Build and maintain strong relationships with community members andpartners in order to grow programming.
  • Schedule, market, and promote events of the program byindependently developing promotional marketing materials and eventplans.
  • May coordinate, monitor or supervise the activities of work studystudents, volunteers, and contractual employees.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

UMB is a public university and constituent institution of theUniversity System of Maryland. All employees are expected to workprimarily physically within the State of Maryland .

Qualifications :
  • Education: Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience: One (1) year administrative or program coordinationexperience.
  • Supervisory Experience: N/A
  • Certification/Licensure: N/A
  • Other: Related experience to program may be substituted foreducation. Knowledge of healthcare is preferred. Must be proficientwith using Excel, PowerPoint, Canva, and survey software(Qualtrics, Survey Monkey).
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • General knowledge of and skill in the practical application ofgenerally accepted office practices and procedures. Ability tocommunicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability toproofread and edit written documents. Skill in various computersoftware packages, such as word processing, spreadsheets, database,presentation programs, Internet, email and calendaring software.Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.Ability to interact effectively with internal and external partiesin a courteous and efficient manner. Ability to plan, organize,prioritize, and execute multiple and continuing assignments withgeneral instructions.
