Job summary

Dandy is seeking a Senior Factory Automation Engineer to own the 3D measurement systems at our Provo, UT factory. You’ll be the single technical owner in a 24/7 production environment, accountable for uptime, yield, and future upgrades of high‑volume inspection systems.

You’ll drive improvements with data and direct the roadmap with minimal process overhead. You’ll partner with ML and advanced manufacturing teams, design tooling and fixtures, and lead vendor installations to ensure the equipment

Qualifications

• 8+ years of automation, manufacturing, or equipment engineering experience.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Direct experience with high-volume automated production equipment in live environments.
• Proven ability to maintain and optimize high-speed automated systems (PLC, robotics, vision).
• Root cause methods (5-Whys, Fishbone, 8D) to resolve failures and prevent recurrence.
• Data-driven approach using sensor data and SPC to anticipate failures.
• Ability to define scope with real ambiguity and authority to set the plan.
• Based in or willing to relocate to the Provo, UT area.

Responsibilities

• Own our 3D quality control, sorting, and final inspection systems end to end in live production.
• Drive measurable gains in yield, throughput, and asset utilization via data trends.
• Partner with ML and advanced manufacturing teams to improve inspection accuracy.
• Set the technical roadmap for this equipment and decide what to build next.
• Diagnose failures and implement permanent design fixes rather than workarounds.
• Design and iterate tooling, fixtures, and jigs to improve stability as scale increases.
• Lead vendor installations and ensure tooling meets design specs.
• Build preventative and predictive maintenance to keep systems available.
