Job summary

K2 Space is seeking a Facility Security Officer (FSO) to lead our industrial security program and ensure compliance with 32 CFR Part 117, NISPOM, and DoD requirements. You will partner with the Head of Facilities, IT Security & Compliance Lead, and government stakeholders to safeguard classified information as the company scales.

This high-impact, largely independent role spans from Program Managers and Engineering to Legal and HR.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
• 10+ years as a Facility Security Officer or Security Manager supporting DoD/IC programs.
• Strong command of NISPOM and DoD security protocols.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience briefing executives and government stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Submit and maintain FCL sponsorships and ensure ongoing FOCI compliance.
• Keep lines of business informed of security requirements; update SF312s and coordinate with Legal to maintain records.
• Develop and deliver security training (SCG, CUI, OPSEC) with SETA team and Program Managers.
• Provide security input for proposals and related documentation (RFPs, BAAs).
• Review PWS/SOWs and generate DD Form 254s, advising on flow-down security requirements.
• Conduct security briefings, indoctrinations, refresher training, and event-driven sessions.
• Investigate suspected security infractions and recommend corrective actions.
• Manage the lifecycle of classified information per NISPOM/ICD: safeguarding, storage, and transmission.
• Prepare Program Protection Plans and Security Classification Guides; support ISSM/ISSO with systems maintenance.
