Position Overview

The Senior Facility Design Manager is a key representative of the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Facilities Design Business Class within an office. This team provides facility programming, planning, functional design, and equipment industrial design as part of multi-discipline design teams. The Senior Facility Design Manager/Region Lead must demonstrate the ability to manage local staff and collaborate within a globally recognized firm.

Responsibilities

• Manage project and office resources, including budget and schedule control, and maintain communication with clients, consultants, and vendors.
• Oversee all phases of facility-related projects, from initiation to completion, often leading cross-functional teams across multiple time zones.
• Provide project management, marketing, and leadership to a team supporting the growth of the O&M Facilities Design within the region and the broader business class.
• Supervise project staff and mentor less experienced project managers.
• Support HDR’s Transportation Business Group by delivering professional facility design services for operations and maintenance facilities across various market sectors, with a focus on Transit and Transit Agencies.

Qualifications

Preferred:

• Power user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project)
• 10+ years in planning, design, or engineering of facility projects
• Experience with transportation operations and maintenance or industrial facilities
• Knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD
• Project management skills (PMP preferred)
• Architecture and/or Engineering licensure
• LEED or sustainability credentials

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field
• At least 10 years of related experience
• Minimum of 5 years in project management
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, estimating, scheduling, and project management software
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
