Position Overview

The Senior Facility Design Manager is a key representative of the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Facilities Design Business Class within an office. The O&M Facilities Design team provides facility programming, planning, functional design, and equipment industrial design as part of multi-discipline design teams. The Senior Facility Design Manager/Region Lead must demonstrate the ability to manage local staff and to be a team player within a globally recognized leader in the field.

This individual is responsible for overall project and office resource management, including budget and schedule control, communications, client, consultant, and vendor relations for all work delivered by O&M Facilities Design staff. They oversee reviews and approve all phases of facility-related projects from start to finish and often lead cross-functional teams across multiple time zones.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate work of multidisciplinary teams throughout project lifecycle
• Handle all aspects of large or complex projects with significant technical requirements
• Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring deliverables are on schedule and within budget
• Establish and maintain client relations, participate in marketing and meetings
• Conduct work sessions with stakeholders for deliverable development
• Coordinate staffing, workload, and project resources
• Monitor financials and adjust efforts to meet budget and schedule constraints
• Implement QA/QC procedures
• Supervise project staff and mentor less experienced project managers
• Travel to client sites or other HDR offices as needed

Qualifications

Preferred:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software
• 10+ years’ experience in facility planning, design, or engineering
• Experience with transportation and industrial facilities
• Knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD
• Project management skills (PMP preferred)
• Licensure in Architecture or Engineering
• Sustainability credentials such as LEED

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• At least 10 years’ relevant experience
• Minimum of 5 years project management experience
• Strong organizational and communication skills
