Job summary

The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Downtown Campus is seeking a Maintenance Worker III to perform journeyman-level maintenance across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC. The role ensures compliance with safety standards, maintains records, and supports after-hours operations.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or equivalent with five years of related experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work across trades in a dynamic university

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, Vocational Training, or Apprenticeship in a related field.
• Five (5) years of related work experience.
• This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per TexasEO-GA-48.

Responsibilities

• Provides journeyman-level maintenance and repair work of plumbing, painting, electrical, carpentry, air conditioning, and refrigeration.
• Provides journeyman level skills in installation, maintenance and repair of electrical motors, switches, circuit breakers, outlets, fixtures, fittings and accessories; plumbing in new construction or remodeling.
• Inspects completed work for conformance to specifications; maintains daily records; cross-trains with various shops; reports needs for repairs to supervisors.
• Submits reports on the status and costs of maintenance projects.
• Serves in an on-call maintenance capacity to support after-hours and weekend operational needs.
• Provides supervision, guidance and training to maintenance workers I's and II's.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
