The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is a leading institution focused on cancer care, research, education, and prevention. The Senior Facilities Project Manager of Activation plays a critical role in supporting complex facility projects that enable exceptional patient care, research, and operational excellence. The Senior Facilities Project Manager of Activation provides activation leadership across large-scale capital projects, ensuring successful transitions from construction completion through occupancy and operational readiness.

At UT MD Anderson, the Senior Facilities Project Manager of Activation serves as the Facilities Planning, Design and Construction representative for assigned projects. Working within Facilities Planning, Design and Construction this position leads activation and deactivation planning, transition coordination, equipment procurement, move management, and stakeholder engagement to support successful facility openings and closures.

The ideal candidate for the Senior Facilities Project Manager of Activation will possess extensive project management expertise in capital facility activation, procurement processes, construction practices, equipment installation requirements, stakeholder management, and regulatory compliance. Education, experience, and licensure requirements were not provided; therefore, candidates should demonstrate the qualifications necessary to independently manage complex activation projects while maintaining quality, budget, and schedule objectives.

Salary Range: $123,000 - $154,000 - $185,000

Responsibilities
Project Management
  • Lead, plan, organize, and direct the implementation of activation and deactivation phases of complex facility projects
  • Define project scope, schedules, and resource requirements for large-scale capital projects
  • Manage activation planning, equipment procurement, move coordination, and deactivation of existing spaces
  • Independently oversee complex major capital facility activation projects with minimal direction
  • Manage activation scope, budget, schedule, and project contract compliance
  • Ensure activation components are completed on schedule, within approved budgets, and according to quality standards
Stakeholder Leadership & Communication
  • Represent Facilities Planning, Design and Construction on assigned activation projects
  • Guide project teams including customers, contractors, construction managers, consultants, internal resources, and Facilities
Management Division groups
  • Facilitate productive actions through conflict management and effective communication
  • Coordinate stakeholder activities to support successful project transitions to end users
  • Generate, collect, disseminate, store, and manage project activation information
Compliance & Contract Administration
  • Manage contractual compliance and relationships for assigned projects
  • Define and implement contractual and financial strategies
  • Coordinate approval procedures with BOR, THECB, FSC, and associated state agencies
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain Services to prepare documentation required for contract awards
  • Ensure adherence to institutional requirements and industry standards
Activation Operations & Quality Management
  • Apply knowledge of procurement processes, construction processes, product applications, and building and equipment assembly requirements
  • Delegate activities related to stakeholder management, scope management, schedule management, and cost management
  • Manage changing priorities while maintaining project objectives
  • Oversee quality assurance activities throughout activation planning and execution
  • Ensure successful transition of facilities to operational users
Documentation & Recordkeeping
  • Develop and maintain project documentation that is accurate, current, clear, and complete
  • Manage financial reports, activity reports, and project status reporting
  • Support project decision-making and issue-resolution processes through effective documentation
  • Organize and properly store project records and documentation
  • Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree Construction Management, Construction Science or other construction related Architectural Engineering field or related discipline.
Work Experience
  • Required: 5 years Project management/construction experience.
  • May substitute Bachelor's degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
  • Preferred: 15 years Project management/construction management experience. Design and construction experience with major academic healthcare and/or research facilities.
