Job summary

NEWARK BOARD OF EDUCATION in Newark seeks a Senior Maintenance Repairer for the Office of Facilities Management - Project Control. The role covers masonry, carpentry, painting, plumbing, steam fitting, sheet metal, electrical, glazing and mechanical maintenance duties across a busy facilities environment.

Under supervision, you may lead a small unit, maintain essential records, and learn to utilize electronic/manual recording systems used by the agency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum one year of maintenance experience.
• May require a valid New Jersey driver’s license; CDL and endorsements may be required.
• Ability to perform a variety of maintenance tasks across trades.

Responsibilities

• Erects forms, mixes cement and aggregates, pours and finishes concrete.
• Repairs brick and concrete structures and plastered walls/ceilings.
• Installs and repairs locks, fixtures; paints interior/exterior surfaces.
• Repairs plumbing, replaces gaskets; maintains equipment.
• May lead a small maintenance unit and keep essential records.
