Job summary

University Hospital in Newark, NJ is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to operate, repair, and install machinery, plumbing fixtures, simple HVAC/R controls, and related tasks across facilities.

You will respond to trouble calls, perform routine inspections, document work orders, and support the Supervisor with material requisitions. A technical diploma and NJ driver's license are required; NJ Black Seal preferred.

Qualifications

Technical school diploma or equivalent with two years of experience in electrical, plumbing, HVAC/R, carpentry, painting or general maintenance.
Ability to perform minor repairs across multiple skilled trades including mechanical equipment, HVAC/R, electrical and plumbing.
Valid New Jersey Driver's License. NJ Black Seal Engineer's License preferred.

Responsibilities

Operates, maintains, repairs and installs machinery, plumbing fixtures, simple HVAC/R controls, along with carpentry and painting tasks.
Responds to trouble calls and requests within facilities using hand and power tools, equipment testing, and analysis.
Performs routine building maintenance and inspections on mechanical equipment and related systems.
Performs routine maintenance on plumbing, electrical, HVAC/R and related facility systems.
Prepares and submits requisitions for materials, work orders and records to the Supervisor.
