Job summary

The Facilities Operations and Capital Projects unit at University of California, Irvine seeks a Senior Building Maintenance Supervisor to lead a comprehensive maintenance program across apartment and residence halls. You will supervise trades, coordinate preventative and capital projects, manage call center triage, maintain stock, and promote emergency preparedness.

A high school diploma and 3+ years supervisory experience are required; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to monitor and project expenses, including time, labor and materials.
• Skill using word processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail and internet applications.
• Communicate effectively with a broad variety of individuals in person, on the phone and in writing.
• Working knowledge of policies and procedures relative to facilities maintenance, equipment, customer service, dispatch, building maintenance, custodial practices, safety and emergency preparedness.
• Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures to meet evolving needs and a continuous improvement of services.
• Experience working in a union environment.
• Follow, model and promote conduct that adheres to the University of California Principles of Community.
• Ability to flexibly and efficiently respond to frequent changes in task focus, competing priorities, and multiple deadlines.
• Skill to prepare, conduct and/or arrange training in relevant maintenance, custodial and safety topics.

Responsibilities

• Receive and assign work orders for day-to-day service requests and preventive maintenance.
• Direct subordinates in basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical maintenance and custodial tasks.
• Manage stock and distribution of maintenance supplies and equipment.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness and response activities.
• Monitor expenses and ensure completion of tasks within budget.
• Maintain records and reports related to maintenance activities.
