Job summary

Guilderland Central School District seeks an Assistant Director of Facilities I (NY HELPS) to support the Director of Facilities in supervising district buildings, grounds, and maintenance activities. The role oversees a large staff of custodial and maintenance personnel and coordinates preventive maintenance and inspections.

The position requires an Associate's degree with relevant experience or a high school diploma plus supervisory experience, and involves planning, budgeting, and staff

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in School Facilities Management, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Building Construction Technology or Architectural Technology and two (2) years of related experience, one year supervisory; OR high school diploma with four (4) years of related experience, one year supervisory.

Responsibilities

• Assist in operation and maintenance of physical plant, equipment and groundskeeping.
• Assist in planning and supervising current and long-range programs for operation and maintenance of physical plant and equipment.
• Inspect painting, carpentry, electrical, plumbing and other mechanical maintenance and construction work performed by staff and outside contractors.
• Inspect buildings and equipment periodically to determine maintenance and repair needs.
• Supervise and oversee the cleaning and custodial activities of the district's buildings, including management of a large custodial staff.
• Schedule and coordinate preventative building maintenance activities.
• Maintain, order, and monitor inventory of building cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Recommend major repairs on maintenance that is needed for physical plant and equipment to the superintendent as needed.
• Assist in preparation of budget estimates on all plant operation and maintenance.
• Assist in the hiring, development and training of staff.
• Maintain records such as inventories, cost analysis, employee time sheets, etc and prepares reports.
